Head of School Paul Lindenmaier unveiled plans for a new Lower School playground last night at a well-attended Zoom meeting with the Buckingham Friends School community. Working with local company, Indigenous Ingenuities, LLC, the new playground is designed to be environmentally responsible, using all natural materials, and incorporating the canopy of the Lower School’s beautiful, large trees into the design. The school plans to begin construction this summer so that the playground is ready for the start of the school year in September. Says Lindenmaier, “The look on the children’s faces last night said it all! The new playground is going to be a fantastic addition to our Lower School program, and the natural, woodsy aesthetic aligns perfectly with the look and feel of our expansive 42-acre campus.”
This exciting announcement comes on the heels of additional improvements to Buckingham Friends School, which include the construction of a new state-of-the-art gym, a standalone science building, and updates to all classrooms for 3rd through 8th grades, including two new Learning Commons. Celebrating its 228th year, Buckingham Friends School is poised for the exciting – and playful – future ahead!
