BFS hosted its first domestic Joint Environmental Mission (JEM) trip to Philadelphia in mid-May! Centered around long-standing JEM themes: cultural appreciation, collaboration and relationship-building, human rights, and environmental sustainability, students participated in a unique experience that provided an opportunity to meet Philadelphians of all ages who love their city and are working to make it a more just, green, and vibrant place to live for all!
During their trip, the students visited organizations and met with community leaders working to advance sustainability, environmental and social justice, and the celebration of Philly’s cultural diversity. Other trip highlights included exploring a variety of Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and trying their cuisines, collaborating on a project with students from Greene Street Friends School, drawing inspiration from local change-makers, and reflecting on ways to create positive change in our own communities.
