Current Openings:

Buckingham Friends School seeks a responsible, playful, energetic, and attentive individual to assist with our After School Program. Interested candidates should enjoy engaging with children of varying ages (5-14) in an unstructured/free-play environment within our beautiful wooded campus. The individual must be available for the After School Program from 2:45-6pm. The position starts in March 2025 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Buckingham Friends School seeks tutors for kindergarten to 8th grade students. The ideal candidate will have a background in elementary, middle school, and/or special education and be passionate about fostering academic growth, developing authentic relationships with students, and collaborating with teachers and parents/guardians.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized one-on-one instruction in reading, writing, and/or math using research-based methodologies
  • Implement structured literacy interventions for students with reading difficulties
  • Guide students in developing strong writing skills
  • Deliver multisensory math instruction
  • Assess students’ academic progress and tailor lessons to meet their specific needs
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support student learning and growth
  • Provide regular communication with the school and parents/guardians
  • Foster a positive student-tutor relationship that prioritizes students’ social-emotional and executive functioning skills
 
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with students in K-8, particularly in early elementary grades
  • Training and/or certification in Wilson Reading System, Orton-Gillingham, or a comparable structured literacy program
  • Training in writing instruction methods, such as the Hochman Method
  • Experience with multisensory math programs
  • Strong ability to teach executive functioning skills
  • Bachelor's degree in elementary education, special education, or a related field
